Tratta del potere simbolico delle sculture la presenza della Catalogna alla Biennale di Venezia. Oggetto dell’analisi sono le sculture naturalistiche e figurative catalane esposte nei luoghi pubblici.
Il padiglione a più voci è stato affidato alla curatela di Pedro Azara, che si è anche prestato a fare da guida nella performance di Marcel Borrás, attore e regista catalano, interpretata dall’attrice Marta Aguilar, durante i giorni di vernissage. Teatro della performance le strade del sestiere Castello, quelle dove i turisti sono davvero rari.

Nella performance She appropriates in present è stata messa in scena la relazione con alcune sculture, dove al pubblico è stato chiesto di interagire con l’attrice, con atti di devozione – come quelli reali tributati alla statua di un famoso calciatore, o di protesta, lanciandole contro vernice colorata – come capita alle sculture di politici o pensatori caduti in disgrazia. Nella mostra una macchinetta, E.Y.M: (a f*** vending machine), che si configura come scultura autonoma, contiene gli oggetti che i visitatori hanno usato per interagire con la performer: fiori finti, lecca-lecca, bombolette spray, etc.
Il padiglione si compone di ulteriori materiali: video, documentazione fotografica e articoli di giornale che sono l’archivio su cui si basa la ricerca del curatore. Infine è stato pubblicato un libro d’artista nel quale sei artisti catalani riflettono sul potere delle immagini attraverso disegni, illustrazioni, saggi e poesie.
