The March issue of Domus China highlights two projects that are related to arts and crafts. The furniture series called “Bend It Like Yoga”, by Yung Ho Chang from FCJZ cooperating with QM, is a rethinking and redevelopment of classic wood bending craft. It offers the design a form of freedom, and in the meantime avoids the labeling impression of new Chinese style or minimalism. We feature the idea of design by having a conversation with the designer and visiting the production site.

The “Silk - Chinese Flavour of Fashion Art” exhibition by Gong Linna is also highlighted in this issue. The silk scarves on display are created in a collision of ideas from an elder traditional artist and a younger female designer who is willing to inherit the traditions and has sufficient bravery in creating things. By using the elements and colours of the glazed handcrafts from the Palace Museum, these two remarkable artists have collaborated to accomplish amazing paintings and patterns of silk.

We also feature the recent completion of the first phase of Beijing campus of Lenovo global headquarters. It brings up broader issues that underwrite what is taking place inside and beyond workplace, and focuses on solutions of public spaces with both their interior and context, taking stronger self-consciousness and more public-minded approaches.

International projects, including the architecture of Aldo Andreani, the fashion design by Ikko Tanaka and Issey Miyake, the collections of Arthur Rüegg, the Cala House in Madrid and the Giotto exhibition by Mario Bellini are also covered in this issue.
