Located in the north coast of Minorca, Spain, and designed by Nomo Studio, Stone House is a single family dwelling built with the same technique of ancient limestone walls. The building, using local stone, is a connection between architecture and landscape, providing a strong continuity between interior and exterior. Organized on two levels, Stone House offers a visual connection with the outdoor space, an expansion of the rooms enclosed by thick walls. The 100 sqm covered porch, from which people can admire the landscape, is an extension of kitchen, dining room and living room, and acts as a thermal buffer thanks to the double glazed facade: it can be a winter garden, a shaded place or a hot-air insulating system according to the season. On the second floor, six bedrooms are placed around a double high hall and have access to a terrace. On the facade, white plaster frames are inspired by traditional architectures and the wooden volumes of windows and doors seem extruded from the surface. Light tones find space in the interiors too: white walls are combined with a sand-coloured concrete floor. The furniture such as wardrobe and libraries, niches and shelves are made in masonry, in a perfect integration with the walls.
