In the coming months we will be able to enter some of the most beautiful houses of the 20th century in Milan: the Fai, Fondo Ambiente Italiano, has set up the exhibition Nelle case. Interni a Milano 1928-1978 in one of its most evocative locations, Villa Necchi Campiglio.

The exhibition, curated by Enrico Morteo and Orsina Simona Pierini, with an installation by Daniela Ledda in the rooms of this masterpiece designed by Pietro Portaluppi, begins with the photographic book Nelle case - Milan interiors 1928-1978, published by Hoepli in 2023. The book brings together the most virtuoso examples of interior design from the 1930s to the 1970s, testifying to the design of living spaces by the great architects of the 20th century, from Gio Ponti to Franca Helg and Portaluppi himself, who designed the Necchi Campiglio family home in 1932.

The exhibition represents the synthesis of the extensive research that began in 2018 and culminated first in the volume and now in this exhibition, which will be open until March 2025. There are more than 300 Milanese interiors built between 1928 and 1978, 71 of which were inhabited by the architects themselves. This project not only reveals an invaluable heritage of the history and stories of architecture and design, but also provides an overview of the social and cultural changes that have defined modern living, offering the public a complete and fascinating view of an era in constant evolution.
