There’s now a skate park inside Vans’ London store

The new project by Andrea Caputo Studio has added a 200 square metre ramp to the Oxford Street store, where events and capsule collection presentations will be hosted.

At 214 Oxford Street in London, Vans has just renovated its store, focusing on the brand's most iconic symbol, the skateboard. The project by Andrea Caputo Studio included the installation of a 200 square metre Roman travertine ramp made from a single large block of stone.

Designed with input from the Vans Skate Team, including Martino Cattaneo, Helena Long, Josh Young, Willow Voges Fernandes and Jordan Thackeray, the ramp runs through the entire store and will host skate sessions, lessons and events open to the public, transforming a retail space into a concept store in its own right.

When not in use for skateboarding, modular glass systems transform the installation space to showcase capsule collections that have been previewed or created specifically for the Vans West End store.

These include a partnership with The Great Frog, a London-based jeweller who have combined their punk and metal style with Vans DNA to create bespoke accessories, and with Brighton-based Gomi, who have created speakers and power banks made from disused electric bikes in the signature Vans checkerboard pattern. In addition to new offerings, Vans West End will continue the brand's tradition by reintroducing some of its most sought-after and limited collections from previous years.
