Launched by Pedrali last year, the Social system of modular seating designed by Patrick Jouin and conceived for contract use, has been extended with two new, curved, connecting modules and a flat swivel top for added versatility. “The extension of the Social system range”, explains Patrick Jouin, “introduces the idea of something that can be assembled anywhere and that follows the evolution that has occurred inside the office and waiting areas”.

The range also sees the introduction of the extra-long Social Plus, a pure and simple object made up of two, three or four straight and corner modules that are deeper and wider for greater comfort. “Looking at the initial idea, we realised we could take it further”, continues Jouin, “and we designed the Social Plus sofa that, with a slimmer structure and a deeper seat, enabled us to introduce into the office a concept of comfort that comes from the world of the home.
When we designed Social last year, the system already had in its DNA a kind of home feeling. We didn’t have to create a new object, we just worked on the proportions to achieve the level of comfort that we had in mind. We made it lower, slimmer and deeper. Social Plus is a mutant object, that has moved from the home to the office to introduce the idea of comfort in the most classic sense, not limited to the functional comfort linked to the ergonomics of sitting that requires an angle of 70°. Entering the home is a new direction for Pedrali. “Social Plus” – according to Patrick Jouin – “is for Pedrali something of a Trojan horse”. To be continued.
