Privileged by its location on a penthouse floor, which in the good season enjoys an elevated view over the dense foliage of the underlying tree-lined avenue, an early twentieth-century Milanese apartment rediscovers its personality thanks to the striking but unobtrusive intervention of the Atomaa architecture studio.
An apartment for bibliophiles
The project by the architecture studio Atomaa turns the tables on a classic Milanese apartment, introducing partitions that re-equalize the living areas and using arches and color to revive liveliness and movement.

It is through the redistribution of space and, in particular, the elimination of the classic corridor that serves as access to the rooms, that the apartment finds a development by horizontal planes able to delineate a first living area organized between the living room, to the right of the entrance, and a kitchen area followed by an intimate dining room on the left. Communicating with the living room through a sequence of yellow doors with embossed profile, a study convertible into a guest room gives access to a small library corridor and, in parallel, to a walk-in closet that serves as an antechamber to the bedroom.
The wise communication between the rooms, however, does not aim to standardize the spatial perception, but to characterize each space through a unique and custom configuration, made particularly lively by the choice of different colors and coatings and the calculated use of arched doors. The patterned cement tiles in the living room, for example, outline a graphic rhythm capable of enhancing the geometric emphasis. The wallpaper in the dining corner, instead, is not afraid to rely on a decorative motif to reinforce its cocoon-like appearance, enhanced, moreover, by the rounded corners, while in the bathroom the combination of green and pink restores prominence to this service room.
Scattered throughout the house, many bookcases are made to house the impressive collection of books of the two owners, even creeping into the niche under the bow window, where a chaise longue identifies an ideal corner not only for reading, but also to contemplate the great density of green foliage of the avenue trees.
