After a few weeks of teasing and rumors, VanMoof finally unveiled its new S5 and A5 e-bikes. The A5 is the company's first model with a step-in frame, making the two-wheeler more accessible to a broader audience. The S5 follows the VanMoof tradition with a slightly updated version of the company's iconic frame design. Despite the similarities with the S3 model, the new e-bike has been completely reengineered. Both models come with an ultra-silent and powerful Gen 5 motor, a long-range battery, a power boost mode, and the usual VanMoof anti-theft technology.

The new S5 and A5 handlebars have also been redesigned to include a so-called Halo-Ring interface. Thanks to a circular LED integrated into the frame, the innovative feature gives the riders immediate visual feedback about speed, battery level, and connection. The user's smartphone also plays a new central role. Thanks to an optional USB-C phone mount, riders can use their devices as an electronic dashboard by using VanMoof's updated app. VanMoof's work on the new S5 and A5 has been recognized and honored with a coveted Red Dot "Best of Best" design award.

The VanMoof S5 & A5 come only in light gray, and they're available worldwide from April 5 for $2998 / €2498 / £2298. Deliveries start in July. We're wondering if by "worldwide," VanMoof will officially include China as well, maybe by opening its first stores in the country. Otherwise, it's hard to understand why the company jumped from the S3 and X3 models straight to S5 and A5, avoiding number 4, that Chinese culture considers unlucky.
