Remote workers, teleworkers and digital nomads, many people now regularly carry out the tasks required by their work directly from their main home, from a second home and some even connected from a cafe on the other side of the world. In any case, not in the office. Regarding this, according to the numbers highlighted by the Smart Working Observatory, remote workers in Italy are about 6.58 million, more than ten times - 570 thousand - the number recorded in 2019, and it is estimated that more than 5 million of them will continue to work (also) remotely in the future.

Of course, considering this trend, manufacturers of electronic accessories and devices have not missed an opportunity to think of new solutions aimed at improving working conditions and productivity: from stands for foldable notebooks that turn into complete workstations to wearable devices designed to improve productivity and concentration.
From Shift to Packed Pixel Go, in the gallery you can see some of the projects launched in crowdfunding during the last months: some of them have entered production and will be shipped to subscribers during the next months; others instead will not enter the market, at least not for now.

Ideal for those looking for a simple solution to organize their desk or carry their laptop anywhere without using a traditional bulky notebook bag, SHIFT is an essential organizer designed to be attached on the back of the laptop screen and consists of several compartments with elastic bands in which to fit the accessories we use most often: from the mouse to the earphones and from pens to the smartphone. Conceived in two different sizes and compatible for all notebooks with a 12" display and above, the accessory can be repositioned several times on any surface thanks to an adhesive that leaves no residue. SHIFT can be ordered from 35 euros and the first units will be delivered next June.
Available from $89 (about 74 euros), FOCI is a biometric wearable device that can learn, through machine learning, our cognitive styles and help us improve concentration. As large as a traditional USB stick and with a clip to be conveniently attached to the pants, the accessory emits a vibration to call our attention, inviting us to complete the tasks we are carrying out. The dedicated application also offers exercises and activities designed to improve four different types of focus.
It's not a normal pen: it’s a real Swiss Army knife for your desk. CORE¹ is the ideal tool for all those who are often busy designing and creating. G61-Industrial, in collaboration with British designers Alexander Marler and Alexander Hale, had the idea to encase a traditional ballpoint pen in a titanium shell equipped with a ruler, a calliper, a screwdriver - with interchangeable tips - and an awl for engraving over hard surfaces. Everything was meant to be delivered in a hard case. However, due to the poor adhesion to the fundraising campaign, the project will not see a product launch for the moment.
Not only for nerds but also ideal for remote workers who like to work while remaining comfortably in bed or sitting on the couch, The Couch Console is a container built from recycled materials and consists of several compartments in which to place the things we usually handle while at home: from the remote control to the smartphone, from snacks to a cup of coffee. However, what makes it special is the gyroscopic system of the module designed to hold a cup or glass: the cupholder, in fact, is designed to remain constantly stable despite the abrupt movements on soft surfaces and thus avoid spilling liquids on mattresses and pillows. Size 26.5 x 26.5 x 9 cm, the starting price is $ 89 - about 74 euros - and the release is expected next July.
A lamp with an industrial style, about 45 cm high and supported by a circular wooden base, it is equipped with a central threaded pin on which to screw the various modules used to hold your smartphone, watch and glasses. The bulb, of course, is mounted on the upper end. Designed to be a lamp that also serves as a stand, the wooden modules are adjustable in height and direction and have useful notches for cables and thus allow us to recharge the batteries of our devices. Although it could be a nice accessory to add in a studio, the crowdfunding campaign of MyCaddy+ was not successful so, at least for the moment, there are no plans to produce the accessory.
Much like a traditional desk pad, COZE MAT is a mat made in vegetable leather that transforms into a complete workstation that provides space on which to rest a laptop, smartphone, mouse and even a wristwatch.
Thanks to an origami-style folding system, the accessory extends to provide us with a stand with adjustable inclination on which to place a notebook or tablet, with a side mat to use the mouse on and a stand for smartwatch and phone. Its modular structure also makes it customizable, allowing us to add other compartments such as the wireless charging stand or a storage box - included in the Pro version. When folded, the COZE MAT is 40 x 30 x 1.1 cm in size and weighs 1.24 kg. The Essential version can be pre-ordered for $59.90, about 50 euros.
Developed by a company based in Nottinghamshire, it's the ideal solution for improving productivity anywhere, overcoming the limits imposed by the size of laptop monitors. Packed Pixel Go is an additional portable retina display that can be attached to the side of the laptop screen, expanding the operating space on the desktop and thus allowing us to manage multiple applications and windows simultaneously.
Connectable via HDMI and USB-C, the device is available in sizes 10.1" and 15.6", the latter with 4K resolution. Compatible with macOS, Windows and Linux operating systems, the Packed Pixel Go displays support gaming consoles and the new iPad Pro. The starting price is $219 - about 183 euros - and first deliveries are expected in July 2021.
