The new Icon Collection by Berkel

A slicer, a blender and a mini pump for vacuum-packed food make up a new collection that celebrates the unique colour of a brand founded in 1898.

After presenting the B114 X in November, a special edition of the classic range-topping flywheel slicer but with a minimal design, white colour and finishes/shades created in collaboration with Rizoma, Berkel focuses on the style that has distinguished the brand since 1898 in an aesthetic and functional category almost in its own right, starting with the colour, created by accident and which has become an unmistakable shade. And it's no coincidence that it uses the word Icon for the new line.

Combining a strongly identifiable design and functionality at affordable prices, Berkel has created the Icon Collection, a series of small appliances, currently composed of three pieces: Icon Line Slicer, an electric slicer whose shape is reminiscent of its ‘bigger sisters’ with a flywheel; Icon Hand Blender, a hand-held blender; and Icon Mini Vacuum, a mini pump for vacuum-packing food. Also available in black.

The slicer has a 170 mm chrome steel blade that guarantees a slice for different types of food: cold cuts, cheese, vegetables (aubergines parmigiana Berkel precision...), fruit and bread. And besides, the worldwide expansion of the company, which belongs to the Rovagnati group, also brings it into contact with worlds unrelated to the world of cured meats. The structure of the Icone Line Slicer recalls the classic historical slicers in its technical-aesthetic essentiality and decorative and functional circular elements (the floral, see art nouveau), but in terms of size and price (399 euros) it is obviously a product in a different category (12.5 kg in weight, 56 cm in width, 39 cm in height and 33 cm in depth). It belongs to the Home line where it stands alongside the Red Line.

Always faithful to these shapes, although it is a different type of product, Icon Hand Blender. Bare steel and curved lines recall the Berkel style. The peculiarity of the base is interesting, created to hold the four blades (multi-purpose, delicate, whisk and for creams), but also or perhaps above all to act as a support. The effect is almost like a ‘Berkel column or pedestal’, the base for the larger slicers, and the strongest blender. The Blender accessories are completed by a glass and a grinder. The Mini Vacuum is combined with specially designed containers and bags. In addition to knives, blocks, chopping boards, clamps for Italian or Iberian ham, Berkel is expanding its range of products with other accessories to create an atmosphere of style and practicality in the kitchen, even at home and within the reach of non-professional users.
