Located on 20 acres, with 850 feet of shoreline complete with pier, the 3812 square feet house is Johnson’s fourth designed glass house and one of twelve private properties of this type still existing.
The house, which is inspired by the Resor House of Mies van der Rohe, features large glass walls that offer natural light and views of the natural landscape. At the center of the long rectangle that makes up the plant is a spacious living area with a fireplace, while at the opposite ends there are a large kitchen and two bedrooms with two bathrooms. An outdoor walkway connects the main building to the summer wing, which includes six more bedrooms and four bathrooms.
Over the course of its 75 years of existence, the house has retained its original features, although restoration work has been carried out. The current owners have renovated the kitchen, while maintaining the original stone shelf and steel sinks, redone the roof and added a structure in 2006 with the same style, which serves as a boathouse and a large games room.
