De Streken is an installation changing with the tide at the Noordsvaarder, Terschelling, in The Netherlands. Designed by artist Marc van Vliet, it is a meeting place at the centre of a few illuminated points of the compass, where observers find themselves at the centre point of a large installation that occupies the landscape in a wide horizon.

Inspired by the moon and the sun, with each passing hour and day the installation reveals a different aspect of the landscape. The form and function of the installation draws on the wideness and openness of the Wadden landscape. The almost imperceptible changes take place twice each day. The installation has been designed to travel through the Wadden over the coming four years, in the context of the events Leeuwarden 2018 and Sense of place.
