The height and shape of the lamp can be easily changed by adding and rearranging the different components, creating a flexible, adaptable light fixture.
Nendo is quick to remark on the lamp's extreme versatility: "By attaching the wire unit to the shade, it becomes a pendant lamp. Adding a longer pole to the desk lamp makes it a floor stand. The shade is also available in three different shapes: a cone, sphere and a cylinder."
The Nendo w132 was presented recently at the Stockholm Furniture Fair, in a striking installation. Seeking to transmit the lamp's flexibility, Nendo neatly lined up an assortment of differently-configured lamps, in a typological demonstration much like a variety of plants or geological samples.
A 300-page publication was specially produced for the installation: an ingenious flip book that illustrates the design's original character through animation.
