On a project by Studio Pietro Airoldi, a clothing store in the historic centre of Palermo is renovated into a private apartment. On the second floor of a building of the early ‘900, the shop was materially characterized by the presence of floors and walls in Carrara marble and Carpathian red marble. Dedicating attention to the preservation of materials and decorative elements already present, the intervention describes a minimal transformation of the spaces, leaving the stone cladding unaltered in almost all the apartment except for the services area and kitchen, where the materials resulting from the demolitions have been reassembled in a new floor.

The room that initially housed the store showroom, characterized by a large wall mirror, has been transformed into an open space where different domestic spaces coexist. Here the kitchen, the dining area and the living area dialogue with each other in a single environment where the various functions are separated by fixed and mobile furniture.
