Arbau Studio completed L Loft, a residential unit in the former Magazzini Generali warehouse in Mestre, Venice – a disused industrial area in which plant engineering work had been carried out years ago and private flats created. The studio decided to use the loft space in a different way from the recovery plan, exploiting its full potential and conformation: it is a long, narrow volume accessible from the short side. The apartment is characterised by the presence of a mezzanine which follows the course of the section and makes the most of the zenithal light, generating a bright, open space in the centre of the house, an internal patio around which everything else develops. The areas remain communicating with each other despite being divided into two levels: the living area on the ground floor is visually connected to the bedroom on the first floor, enclosed by glass walls. The space uses exposed cross laminated timber panels and concrete for floor and kitchen, as a reference to the industrial nature of the place.

In an industrial complex converted into a residential block near Venice, Arbau Studio completed L Loft, a two-level flat that values the space’s potential and conformation.
