Acne Studios opens a new store in the Swedish capital, inside the former headquarters of Sveriges Kredit Bank, where a robbery in 1973 originated the term “Stockholm syndrome”.
After various interventions over the years, today the neoclassical architecture of the space appears again: Barcelona-based studio Arquitectura-G eliminates traces of previous renovations, leaving and introducing only white marble elements – all in the shade of the original Ekeberg marble.
The 400 sqm room, totally white, seems suspended in another dimension, marked by the constant presence of columns. The shop is made up of three interconnected rooms in which pieces of Max Lamb’s furniture emerge as marble podiums, while metal hanging stands fit discreetly into the space. A new colonnade has been added at the end of the main axis, providing access to the dressing rooms.
Stockholm. Acne Studios new store is a tribute to white marble
Renovated by Arquitectura-G, the banking headquarters where the term “Stockholm syndrome” is born become a total-white space where original elements dialogue chromatically with the more recent ones.
