In Barcelona, the renovation of an apartment in pastel tones

An apartment located on the top floor of a building of ’59 in Barcelona, Garcia district, was recently renovated by the architecture firm AMOO. From the beginning, according to the client’s requests, the project plans to reverse the distribution of uses of the house, with the creation of a large common space to work and accommodate guests, and a large room with bathroom and dressing room completely open.

All existing partitions are demolished, and the program is developed through custom-made furniture, which adapts to the available space of 60.46 square meters in an ambivalent and even ambiguous way. The sofas that are beds are transformed into desks, the beds that are closets are transformed into bathtubs, always with a design that is rarely resolved in right angles. And as proof of this fluidity of use of space, the apartment, beyond the entrance door, has only one door: that of the courtesy bathroom, for the comfort of guests.

Simultaneously, the main facade is equipped with a coated shelf to increase insulation, and sliding from one side to the other, it collects and locates all the windows, resulting in a homogenizing element. As a last detail, an ionic pillar in pink marble on the head of the supporting wall.
