Los Angeles-based architecture firm OWIU – Only Way Is Up – has completed the lobby and reception of ADDP Architects office in Singapore, located in a traditional shophouse in the Tanjong Pagar district. Along with the interiors, the brand’s identity and logo have also been redesigned while maintaining the philosophy of the firm.
The general feeling is that of being in an submerged world: the space in fact is perceived as distorted, as if it was underwater. A characteristic that is given by the curved volumes of the space – from the marble reception desk, a thermoformed floor-to-ceiling surface, to the long wooden seat for clients. Wavy shapes also feature the lobby wall conceived thanks to parametric design.
The feeling of depth and movement is amplified by the ceiling pattern made of wooden modules, each one also used for lighting. OWIU redesigned the staircase at the entrance by inserting a sculptural handrail separated from the wall.
