Robert Brownjohn at Design Museum
His beginnings were more than promising: Robert Brownjohn (1925-1970) was László Moholy-Nagy’s most brilliant student. His career was striking to say the least: in 1957 at 32 he founded his New York studio with Ivan Chermayeff and Tom Geisnar but, after just three years, he was already head of the London McCann Erickson agency.
His works are still well-known today and include the screen titles of the James Bond films, “Goldfinger” and “From Russia with Love” and the cover of the Rolling Stones album, “Let it Bleed” . Today, 25 years after his death, he is being remembered with a broad retrospective at the Design Museum which is authored by his friend and colleague, Alan Fletcher. E.S.
