Edoardo Tresoldi realised the installation Sacral for the sixteenth-century cloister of MAR – Museo d’Arte della città di Ravenna, Italy, on the occasion of the exhibition “Un’Epopea POP”, open until 9 January 2022. The Italian artist and set designer, who has produced works from Riyadh to Reggio Calabria, has been asked by curator Giorgia Salerno to reinterpret Dante’s Castello degli Spiriti Magni (Castle of Great Spirits) from the Divine Comedy: the place narrated by the poet in the fourth canto of the Inferno, which houses philosophers, poets, scientists and writers, great men in life for their moral qualities but condemned to eternal suffering because they lacked theological virtues. The installation, which once again plays with the transparency of the wire mesh, represents the theme of souls and allows visitors to physically enter the Noble Castle, retracing Dante’s itinerary. The journey, female figures, dreams and light are the other topics on which the exhibition’s itinerary is built, each reinterpreted by a different artist. The result is an experience that revolves around Dante’s work, his places and his characters.
