A wooden structure designed to allow charging of electric vehicles as fast as possible – only 15 minutes – and offer a comfortable and peaceful place for travelers on Danish motorways. The stations designed by Cobe reinterpret in a sustainable and contemporary way the traditional gas distributors, integrating areas dedicated to the transit and parking of vehicles with other green spaces and for people to stay. The studio also collaborated with the NGO Danish Society for Nature Conservation to cultivate the spaces around the stations and promote new biodiversity. Conceived as a forest, with wooden "trees" and photovoltaic roofs, the modular roofing adapts to lots of different shapes and sizes. The structure is designed as a kit of components that are easy to assemble and can be reused or recycled in the future. Finally, Cobe has chosen to leave the wood raw and visible in order to communicate immediately the principles according to which the proposal was developed. The station is situated on the E20 motorway in Frederi­cia, Denmark, and is the first of a network of 48 that will be rolled out along Scandinavian roads.
