Shortly to be completed is the Peter B. Lewis Building for the Weatherhead School of Management (part of the Case Western University) designed by Frank O. Gehry. An important project for which construction began in April 1999 and which extends over 5000mq to provide lecture theatres, offices and space for students with a building cost of around 61.7 million dollars. The project has attracted a great deal of curiosity which has given rise to the idea on the part of the Management of creating a virtual preview. The building can already be “visited” at the University website.
As well as technical data regarding the project and photographs of the inside and outside taken from Gehry’s models, the site includes a video of the building works and images from a web camera situated on the roof of the Mather memorial Building, which looks directly onto the construction site across Bellflower Road. Every five minutes a new image appears which offers a view of a what is both a new important American building as well as being something of a homage to Gehry; the site also includes useful links for visiting another five monumental works by the American architect.
