At the Paris Motor Show, Dacia will show a prototype version of its Manifesto, a new concept for an off-road vehicle based on the company’s “essential but cool” mission statement.
Manifesto is intended as a “lab for ideas”, says Dacia, and is connected to nature through the use of sustainable materials. The car packs a series of breakthroughs and innovations that Dacia might decide to include in production models in the future. One example is the new YouClip, a new system to secure a series of modular accessories to the car.
More than just a car, Manifesto is a conceptual statement about how the brand aims to serve consumers with a knack for the great outdoors.
The idea of “essential but cool” is also taken to its limit. Manifesto has no doors, windows, and windshield to “remove any filter” between the passengers and the environment. The car sports a 4-wheel drive, a generous ride height, large wheels, and a sturdy and reliable body. The car is also completely waterproof–even the inside could be cleaned directly with a water jet.
“At Dacia, we like to keep it real,” explained David Durand, Dacia Design Director. “As we were developing and exploring new ideas, we felt we needed to push them past 3D simulations and see what they look like in real life”. The result can be witnessed in person by the visitors of the Paris Auto Show, starting October 18th.
Manifesto is a futuristic dune buggy that embodies Dacia’s new direction
After updating its brand image in the summer, the Romanian carmaker unveiled a new concept for an off-roader. It won’t get to production, but it will serve as an inspiration for the company’s new vision.
