Oman is building a new mixed-use complex for 8,000 people on the mountain range of Jabal al Akhdar, at an altitude of 2,400 meters. With a master plan designed by the engineering firm AtkinsRéalisa, Omani Mountain Destination will comprise three villages spread across various mountain peaks and connected by a network of trails, bridges, and roads. The primary mode of transportation will be a cable car.
Once completed, the complex will offer 2,527 residential units and two thousand hotel rooms, a village dedicated to health and wellness, a high-altitude sports facility, an amphitheater, a museum, and a biodiversity center. Among the experiences offered will be a farming theme park, and activities such as mountain biking, bungee jumping, and climbing. Additionally, a panoramic trail will be created within a scenic reserve. The infrastructure will be built on the slopes of the mountains.
Omani Mountain Destination will be a crucial part of the Oman Vision 2040 project, which aims to promote tourism in the region and offer a range of unique experiences for visitors.
