This is the temple you’ll find at Burning Man 2023

The Temple of Heart was born from an idea of architecture able to bring together and healing.

Designed by Ele Made and Reed Finlay and called “Temple of Heart”, the pavilion – which will host visitors to the Burning Man until September 4 and then it is going to be burned – has been developed to resemble an upside-down desert flower, with the stem pointing towards the sky and the petals opening on the ground. The structure at the top reaches 40 feet high and is covered with 640 panels of porous wood carved thanks to CNC machines to form ten different floral patterns reminiscent of those of lace.

Finlay said that the structure was designed as a place for meditation and mourning, as well as to bring people together. The idea behind the project is that architecture can be a tool for “healing”, able to make us feel close to each other. Also for this reason, in the center of the temple, there is the “Chamber of Heart” which houses a large central column, designed to transform from a structural element to an “altar”, adorned with flowers brought by visitors from all over the world.
