Designed by the Milanese studio Park Associati and owned by the Lombardy Region, Palazzo Sistema will rise 27 floors and will be 122 meters high. Near the center of the Isola di Milano district – between Via Pola, Via Rosellini, Via Taramelli, and Via Abbadesse – will be part of a larger complex, built on the site where currently located the 1971 volumes, designed by Marco Zanuso and Lodovico Barbiano di Belgiojoso as the headquarters of Montedison. The offices were then renovated in the early 2000s to accommodate the employees of the Region following the airplane accident at the Pirellone. The new building will host the Entities and the Company of the system of the Lombardy Region, which has over a thousand employees.

The tower will represent the culmination of the complex, articulated on different heights. The other structures – on which double and triple-height green terraces will be built – will be five floors high (about 30 meters). The covered area will be about 11 thousand square meters, while that of the park 15 thousand square meters. Ground movements and floor changes will be created to give shape and dynamism to public spaces. In addition, the green area will be used to collect rainwater that will be stored in tanks under the structure.
The project aims to open up to the local community and make even more attractive the neighboring areas of the city – at the moment left aside by the redevelopment of the Isola district. According to the competition notice, the building must not cost more than 128 million euros and must be carried out in three years of work. For the moment we do not know when construction works will start.
