Waterfront is the new real estate complex designed and donated to the city of Genoa by Renzo Piano to recover the area of the ex-Fiera. Now under construction, it should be finished by the end of 2023, and the idea behind the project is to return the sea to the city, integrating it again with the urban fabric.

The new district, presented for the first time three years ago, is the continuation of the recovery of the seafront of Liguria’s main city and will offer 200 apartments. It also provides for the construction of a sports hall and various public areas. The residential intervention consists of two buildings in the shape of a hull characterized by a light and transparent structure and built on an artificial island, connected to the mainland by a bridge. All apartments will have a sea view, terraces, gardens, berths, and common areas with fitness area, laundry, meeting rooms, co-working, offices, children’s games, shops, restaurants, nautical activities, sports clubs, garages, cellars, and car and motorcycle parking spaces.
The prices of the apartments – almost all sold on paper – start from 4-5 thousand euros per square meter to get around 10-13 thousand for unique pieces. Fabio Capocaccia, president of the International Institute of the Istituto Internazionale delle Comunicazioni and former executive of Porto di Genova, declared: “We expect Genoa to be even more closely linked to Milan and Turin, given that by 2024 the third high-speed railway crossing will be completed, which will reduce journey times, under an hour”.
