The five-story, 17-room property features the brand's emblematic Baroque style and had been personally styled by the designer who was murdered 25 years ago.

The huge New York house belonged to Gianni Versace since 1996 was put on the market for 70 million dollars. The designer bought it in 1996 for $ 7.5 million, just two years before he was murdered. The Versace family keep the property as a piece of art until 2005, when the current owners, Swedish hedge-fund manager Thomas Sandell and his wife Ximena, purchased the home for $30 million.

The townhouse is located on 64th Street, one of the most prestigious residential streets in Manhattan, close to Central Park and overlooking Madison Ave. and Fifth Avenue. The mansion still retains many of Versace’s original designs: for example, the ceiling of the living rooms features 19th-century panels, which Versace sourced from a palazzo in Florence.

Even if the area is known for the high real estate values, the Versace townhouse is an outlier on the neighborhood price scale. According to the real estate platform Realtor.com, the median listing price for a house on the Upper East Side is $1.5 million.
