Nikon has launched a new mirrorless Z-mount camera that combines retro design and contemporary features, such as Bluetooth connectivity and Nikon’s latest 20.9MP APS-C sensor. It’s called Nikon fc, and it looks just like a much younger sibling to the iconic Nikon FM2 SLR that was extremely popular in the ‘80s. Despite a purely nostalgia-driven design, the Nikon fc is an interesting contemporary hybrid that could cater to photography amateurs and video bloggers alike. The specs are similar to the Nikon Z50, but the back display opens entirely to the side (the Z50’s one could only flip to the bottom). There’s a USB-C port for transferring pics and recharging the camera, an OLED viewfinder, wireless connectivity through the Snapbridge app, and the ability to turn into a webcam with Nikon’s PC/Mac software utility. In pure SLR fashion, the Nikon fc sports three dials to control exposure correction, shutter speed and ISO, for a fully manual operation. The camera will be available from the end of July in two kits with the NIKKOR Z DX 16-50 VR Silver zoom lens or the NIKKOR Z 28mm f/2.8 SE prime lens. The camera is also compatible with Nikon’s Z lenses, making it a perfect lightweight travel companion for Nikon photographers.
Nikon Z fc is a mirrorless camera with a vintage look
The Japanese company’s latest camera takes a trip down memory lane, with a design that is an explicit tribute to the iconic Nikon FM2 film SLR.
