A retro looking Spotify player makes album artwork great again

Designed by Tom Vek – artist and graphic designer – with the support of the developer Chris Hipgrave and his colleague Antoni Pakowski, Sleevenote is a music player similar to a traditional digital photo frame designed for those who love music album covers. In fact, it is flanked by an over 1000 covers, track lists, brochures database that can be directly viewed on the screen device and it is characterized by a diagonal 7.5 inches square touchscreen display that provides pictures print-like definition. Larger than a traditional CD case but smaller than a vinyl, the device has rounded edges and a total size of 16 x 16 x 2.1 cm. On the upper base there are buttons used to control the musical playback and to adjust the volume, while on the side there is a 3.5mm analogue audio output, powered by a USB-C used to recharge the battery which can provide a whole day autonomy too.  

The player is equipped with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, and as well as being able to play audio files transferred from your computer, it also connects to popular streaming services such as Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp. Currently, Sleevenote is a prototype proposed in a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo and its supporters will be able to pre-order a sample from £533 (about 593 euros). However, according to the project page, the first units will be delivered in October 2021.
