The 59th edition of Salone del Mobile in Milan has been presented and this year, from the 21st to the 26th of April, will welcome more than 2,200 exhibitors, 600 young designers and 184 countries. At risk the presence of 30,000 Chinese visitors, buyers and companies due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
Beauty is the keyword of 2020 to be added to the values of the Manifesto – Emotion, Enterprise, Quality, Design, Networking, Communication, Culture, Young People, Ingenuity, Milan. Design is in fact, in its experimentation of shapes and materials, a constant search for beauty. Particular attention will also be on ethics, the link with Milan and the new generations. The presentation was attended by the President of Salone del Mobile Claudio Luti, the President of Federlegno Arredo Eventi Emanuele Orsini and the Mayor of Milan Beppe Sala.
In the next edition of the fair there will be EuroCucina, the International Bathroom Exhibition, S. Project – dedicated to design products and decorative and technical solutions for interior design. The 23rd Salone Satellite will instead propose an inclusive design and a look at international craftsmanship.
A site-specific audiovisual installation curated by Davide Rampello will be on show in Palazzo Reale’s Sala delle Cariatidi from the 21st of April to the 3rd of May: a tribute to the 10 values of the Manifesto interpreted in 10 short films made by 10 Italian filmmakers. “La Scatola Magica. Ten words for ten authors” is a ”visionary dictionary of Italian creativity”, as the artistic director and creative producer of the installation explains, also pointing out that ”beauty is in our DNA, in our culture”. The room includes a parallelepiped 6 meters high and 24 meters deep that will host the three acts of a show.
