From Gio Ponti to Som: Deloitte’s new Milan headquarters is an architectural textbook

The project breathes new life into the large complex designed by Ponti, Fornaroli and Portaluppi, between Corso Italia and Via Santa Sofia, transforming it into a near-zero energy building.

In Milan, at the intersection of Corso Italia and Via Santa Sofia, near the new M4 subway stop, Deloitte will open its new headquarters this week, a work of architectural redevelopment orchestrated by Pimco Prime Real Estate. This involves a real estate complex designed in 1958 by Gio Ponti, Fornaroli, and Portaluppi, now owned by the Allianz group.

The architectural complex has been renovated based on a project by Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill (SOM) and now covers 48,000 square meters with more than 1,000 square meters of green space. Additionally, it has become a “Near Zero Energy Building”. The interior design was handled by Degw, a brand of the Lombardini22 Group. The building will house all the Milan offices and the more than 6,000 employees in the city. The offices have already started welcoming the first employees and will continue over the next few weeks. The official inauguration is scheduled for early 2025.
