As London reopens, an upcoming event that cannot miss on the agenda is the London Design Festival (LDF), this year running 18-26 September in its 19th edition. Hosting the world’s leading design thinkers, practitioners and educators, the festival will once again shine a spotlight on the city’s reputation as a global design capital.
The Design District, right beside North Greenwich Tube, will be open for the public to explore throughout LDF, with a series of outdoor installations, exhibitions and special events. “We hope that this year’s festival will not only be seen by those in London but audiences all around the world and that we’re able to demonstrate that design will be at the heart of the future,” John Sorrell, LDF Chairman, commented.

In fact, this year’s festival will aim to make audiences rediscover the entire city, playing a central role in the capital’s economic recovery after the impacts of the pandemic. As part of the programme, LDF will stage Design Destinations, major trade shows that will be commercial pillars of the festival and key meeting places for designers, manufacturers, buyers and enthusiasts.
Among the unmissable events, the twentytwentyone showroom in Clerkenwell will host groundbreaking Finnish design brand Vaarnii’s debut, world’s leading mixed reality studio Tin Drum and acclaimed Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto will premiere a new Mixed Reality installation and Open City will lead a series of tours of the city’s most interesting works of architecture.
Further information for this year’s festival as well as a detailed program will be released over the summer.
