With a completely digital schedule that boasts over 650 events and 200 speakers, Milano Digital Week, the event dedicated to digital, promoted by the Municipality of Milan, is back and scheduled from 17 to 21 March, exploring the theme of ”Fair and Sustainable City”. Created by IAB Italia, Cariplo Factory and HubLab and with the partnership of Intesa Sanpaolo, the initiative aims to involve an audience as wide as possible, from sector experts to interested parties, seen the dominant role digitalisation plays in everyone’s life after one year into the pandemic. “Digital has shown its potential in this year that is about to end and in 2021 its role will be even more decisive in redesigning, rebuilding and reinventing our present and our future,” Roberta Cocco, Councilor for Digital Transformation and Civic services, commented.

All the events, which will remain available on demand, will touch on a series of themes conveyed or supported by digitalisation: from innovation, to the issues around data and privacy, to inclusion, and participation. A special focus this year will be dedicated to sustainability, how the potential of digital transformation can be applied to sustainable development and the circular economy.
Domus too will be present for the occasion with the panel “Sustainable cities told by Domus” on Friday March 19th at 11:30am presenting a new section of the website dedicated to Sustainable Cities which will host stories, visions, and dialogues on sustainable living. Guests of the event will be Alessandro Melis, who will propose a glossary-transdisciplinary about the cities, Ippolito Pestellini Laparelli, who will present the documentary “Riders, not heroes” and Roberto Pasi, creator of B-Box, a hive for urban beekeeping.
Among the other initiatives, it is worth signalling the opening conference on Wednesday March 17th at 6:00pm on “The Language of Data” by the municipality of Milan and the series “Projections of a Sustainable Mobility” promoted by RAI and Centro di Produzione TV di Milano. There will also be eminent international guests such as professor Cass Sunstein, award-winning author Alec Ross, and journalist Ece Temelkuran who will give lectio magistralis on the intersections of digitalisation with economics, politics, and society Nicola Zanardi, founder of Hublab and curator of Milano Digital Week, explained that the mission at the center of this year’s edition will be precisely to communicate how digitalisation has now become a common and essential good, starting from the city of Milan drawing parallels with global realities. Zanardi hopes that “participating in the Milan Digital Week this year, in addition to being an opportunity, can become a real necessity, a way to take part in the epochal changes that await us.”
