Starting on May 20, 2025, the Fondazione dell’Ordine degli Architetti di Milano will host “Milano Moderna Oggi. Architetture milanesi del ‘900”, a photographic exhibition exploring the legacy of Milan’s modern architecture through the work of seven photographers: Gabriele Basilico, Giovanni Hänninen, Marco Introini, Delfino Sisto Legnani, Allegra Martin, Filippo Romano, and Giovanna Silva. The exhibition will open alongside the first edition of “FotogramMi, Festival di Fotografia di Architettura a Milano”, curated by Giovanna Calvenzi.
The exhibition, set up at the Order’s headquarters, aims to offer a visual reflection on the city's current state of modern architecture. It draws inspiration from Milano Oggi, a volume curated by Gio Ponti in 1957, originally conceived as an annual architectural guide documenting the ongoing construction of a city in continuous cultural and artistic renewal. The selected photographs provide a diverse perspective, analyzing the interaction between buildings, urban space, and the metropolitan landscape, reconstructing the evolution of these architectural structures and their role within the urban fabric.
The opening will also mark the beginning of a series of events and discussions, including photographic itineraries led by the exhibiting photographers, two architectural photography masterclasses with Giovanna Calvenzi and Marco Introini, and a thematic roundtable. Additionally, guided tours will take visitors to key institutions and photographic archives, including Triennale Milano, the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Cinisello Balsamo, and the Gabriele Basilico Archive.
