Bernese gourmet chef Urs Hauri opened its second restaurant inside the former USM workshop space at Bahnhofplatz 9 – before Paul Schärer Junior decided to move it to Thunstrasse 55 in 1961. The name, Kochwerkstatt Münsingen, or cooking workshop, is a tribute to the industrial nature of the place.

The renovation project has been undertaken by Atelier Oï which integrated USM furniture made specifically for the restaurant with Japanese cedar and custom-made lamps. The basement hosts the smoking lounge for wine and whiskey tasting, as well as Cuban, Dominican and Hondurans cigar tasting. The first floor houses the kitchen where you can either let others cook for you or rattle the pots and pans yourself, as well as the impressive restaurant plus two meeting rooms. On the top floor, there is a seminar room with 52 seats featuring USM furniture.
