The Istituto Marangoni Design School is exhibiting projects from the finalists of the competition “Bolon variations – from material to product”, created by some of the school’s design students and using materials from the exclusive Swedish company.
The exhibition will be held at Milan’s new Design school and will showcase ten prototypes. Although these projects differ greatly from each other, they were all made with Bolon’s materials, which inspired young designers from Istituto Marangoni with its aesthetic variety and expressive potential.
Led by Giulio Cappellini (the school’s art director and designer), students were invited to present a new object (from clothing and fashion accessories to a functional product) made from Bolon’s material. This material is normally used in flooring, but students were encouraged to try out new ways of using it and giving it a highly innovative twist. A special panel made up of Istituto Marangoni’s teachers, Bolon’s managers plus Giulio Cappellini judged the competition and selected the ten best projects. Prototypes of the winning objects will be displayed at the exhibition.
“Our collaboration with Bolon provides our students with an interesting opportunity to work closely with an international design company, encouraging them to put their creativity and innovation to the test and to come up with some remarkable results,” says Roberto Riccio, General Manager of the Istituto Marangoni Group.
