During the recent Biennale Interieur in Kortrijk, Belgium, design platform DesignMarketo created the Interieur Bistro, a hybrid between a restaurant and a design exhibition. Located on the 1st floor of the Buda Fabrik building, the Interieur Bistro offered visitors a selection of "freshly cut" food and design. Visitors could pick their favourite seat out of hundreds of chairs on display, while simultaneously meeting and mingling with design-minded souls, during either day and night.

A hand-picked selection of "fresh products" by international brands were presented alongside food and drink combinations. "With a simple selection of simple daily menus, guests can have a sneak peak in the kitchen, eat freshly made local food and relax in an environment of hanging plants and growing chairs! Take your welcome kit, and choose your seat… Welcome!" said DesignMarketo's Alexandre Bettler.

Visitors to the Bistro first entered the Lounge, where they were invited to contemplate a greenhouse growing fresh herbs and vegetables for the kitchen. Once inside the restaurant, they picked a chair from a carefully curated display and sat down at one of the long, communal tables, which were decorated with personal table kits — hand-picked cutlery and napkins — and fresh bread.

Around the restaurant hung a suspended garden of herbs and plants, and blackboards with the daily menu selection. Guests could visit the open kitchen area at all times to see their food being freshly created.

DesignMarketo's concept allowed visitors the chance to enjoy and experience design products in a different environment. Welcoming guests to a warm, friendly atmosphere, Bistro Interieur provided the perfect setting for both food and design products to be enjoyed and experienced: with friends, wine, and conversation.
