A renovated apartment in Spain hides a secret passageway

Raúl Sánchez Architects designs The Magic Box Apartment, where the kids' rooms are interconnected with a golden wardrobe serving as a magic box.

The apartment renovated by Raúl Sánchez Architects occupies the ground floor of a two-storey family house in Viladecans, near Barcelona. The Magic Box Apartment project is developed around a load-bearing wall arranged longitudinally in the space, while the other internal divisions have been demolished.

The entrance is connected to a dining and kitchen area with a view on the garden; on the other side of the axis dividing the house there is a series of rooms linked to each other, all accessible from the corridor: these are three bedrooms and a living area separated by bathrooms and lobbies.

The children’s rooms are interconnected through a golden wardrobe, which hides a secret passage: a sort of magic box of 2.10 meters high that can also be climbed. The wooden floor is interrupted in the bathrooms, where microcement is combined with salmon- and turquoise-coloured walls.
