In Paris, in a typical Haussmanian building, the studio Toledano+architects renovated an apartment of a young couple. Redesigning the interior, the main purpose of the Parisian studio was to restore a strong contemporary character to the place, still preserving the original features.

In order to preserve, therefore, the moldings of the ceiling and walls, as well as the herringbone parquet and the door frames, two equipped wooden walls have been designed, which originate on the two sides of the entrance. Both are organically articulated, transforming and changing thickness according to the needs. Now they are the new walls of the bedrooms, with flush doors almost hidden, later they become a long bookcase.
These two waves, lower than the total height of the apartment so as not to touch the ceiling moldings, find their end point on the two side walls of the street front, leaving air to the large living room, directly connected to the kitchen and the long balcony.
To contrast with the white walls and the natural wood of this new structure, have been studied brass details and precious stones such as travertine and onyx, used respectively for the kitchen island and the bathroom of the main bedroom. Even the lights collaborate in this game between history and contemporary, retro-style neon lights that rhythmically punctuate the walls.
