Google made its mark at Design Week 2023 with the installation Shaped by Water, which fascinated the public and received very positive reviews. For the 2024 edition, it returns to the same location, Archimede, and transforms it with a very different yet equally powerful project, co-created by Ivy Ross, VP Hardware Design. The exhibition is significantly titled Making Sense of Color, and the protagonist is color itself.
In the main room, a large open space, temporary walls of semi-transparent fabric build enclosed rooms arranged in a regular grid, which can be crossed in different directions. Natural light is banned and replaced by variations of neon and colors, created thanks to the software developed by the Chromasonic artistic research laboratory. The spectacle is decidedly impactful, with remarkable poetry made up of nuances and see-through effects, amplified by the movements of the visitors, who create spontaneous choreographies
The subsequent rooms are dedicated to material design, with color remaining the crucial element, leading to the final exhibition, which showcases smartphones, wearables, and other products from the Google lineup.
