Mendini’s corkscrews for Alessi reinterpreted by Arthur Arbesser

30 years of Anna G. – forming an iconic duo of corkscrews with Alessandro M. – are celebrated, and the Viennese-Milanese fashion designer has collaborated with Alessi to create a new look.

Arthur Arbesser, the Viennese-born, London-trained fashion designer based in Milan for more than 12 years, has revisited in a personal and contemporary key Alessi's famous Anna G. and Alessandro M. corkscrews, made of chromed zamak and thermoplastic resin on the design of the brand's former art director, and Domus editor, Alessandro Mendini

Parade, the new decoration proposed by Arbesser reflects his own stylistic language, combining clean lines with colour combinations that incorporate artistic and architectural influences from his hometown, in continuity with the concept of hybridization so dear to Mendini.

The first of Alessi’s two anthropomorphic corkscrews, named Anna G. in honour of the designer Anna Gili, was in fact designed by Mendini in 1994, taking up the model patented in 1930 by Dominick Rosati, to which he added a simple, functional and captivating design, making it an instant symbol amongst Alessi products. Ten years later, Alessandro M. was also created, completing the pair whose three first decades are now being celebrated.
