Set No.5 by Müsing-Sellés is a series furniture pieces designed for domestic environments. Presented at Sight Unseen Offsite Show in 2018 and then at Palazzo Cusani during Milan Design Week 2019, Set No.5 consists of a cocktail table, a minibar and a wardrobe.
With this collection, the studio, formed by architects Marisa Müsing and Álvaro Gómez-Sellés, who started their collaboration in 2018, wants to “explore and re-interpret the relationships between form and utility, moving away from expected functionality in everyday objects”.
The components are made of wood and finished with metalic paint, which creates reflections over the soft and rounded shapes. Through the curves of the design and a slightly changing colour, Set No.5 creates new domestic environments.
Two collections by Müsing-Sellés in between form and materiality
The New York-based studio founded by Marisa Müsing and Álvaro Gómez-Sellés proposes soft shapes that suggest new domestic landscapes and a reflection on the role of materials.

The duo’s new collection Set No.6 was exhibited at Salone Satellite 2019 and created in collaboration with Kevin Lamyuktseung. It is a study on the role of materials in the domestic environment that creates new possibilities of interaction between soft and hard, reinterpreting these concepts. The set consists of two pieces, a table and a chair, made of a white-soft volume in high-density polystyrene, finished with matt paint and polyurethane resin coating. Combined with this first element, a 24 mm transparent glass panel.
