In fancy Mykonos you won’t find an average low cost hotel, but an organic, boutique-hostel. Designed by Dimitris Tsigos from Greek architecture firm Omniview, My Cocoon melts the capsule typology with a more open plan. The project is the result of a careful study on hostels around the world, their physical aspects and social relevance. The outcome is an intermediate space where you can find both privacy and a sharing feel.

“Our goal was to find the perfect balance between space fragmentation – hence privatization – and an overall feeling of openness,” Tsigos explain. “We were keen on not seeing beds as furniture, but as in integrated typology that morphs out of the building’s shell.” To obtain the typical Cycladic look with a feeling of lightness the studio developed a building technique combining a steel core with the traditional screed cement.
