Paola Navone’s new “concept bar” for illycaffè

Designed to be a small contemporary temple to coffee, containing everything necessary for the preparation and consumption of this aromatic drink. From the minimal unit (profiled aluminium and top in bright porcelain) up until the more complex articulations (enriched with specially designed furnishing). The new concept bar illy by Paola Navone, presented in Milan at the Furniture Fair has now been set up inside the Giardini at the Venice Biennale, the latest of a series of projects by Italian designers (following on from Claudio Silvestrin and Luca Trazzi) that interpret and enhance the culture of “Italian coffee”. The idea behind the project has been to search for new design solutions that can be adapted to various places; piazzas, shopping centres, hotels or airports. 56 bars have been opened so far and the Trieste based company aims to open 100 by the end of the year.
