By designing an ingenious composition for these three buildings, Portaluppi gave life to a sumptuous entranceway on Corso Venezia that blends in with and at the same time emerges from the avenue’s architectural context. Two long identical residential buildings run from this entrance along both sides of Via Salvini.
The building along Corso Venezia is distinguished by a huge arch with an impressive barrel vault, forming a portal facing the Giardini Pubblici park. The arch is centred in a facade classically divided into three parts.
In the composition of the facades of the two buildings on Via Salvini, Portaluppi uses a dynamic effect in the planes of the facades, making them seem to stretch towards the large arch. Portaluppi uses a variety of decorations and the juxtaposition of different wall textures in order to render the complexity and stratification of a city street.
