This villa designed by Harry Gugger Studio, set on a steep slope with a spectacular view of Lake Zurich, owes its articulated polygonal layout to the urban planning restrictions in force, which determine obligatory distances from property boundaries and dictate the geometry of the construction. The dwelling, distributed in a basement, two above-ground floors and a mezzanine, is characterised by a plastic volume that is broken up into wide glass openings arranged in an irregular rhythm and large terraces from which one can enjoy the grandiose view of the landscape. The basement houses the services, the first level the bedrooms, the second the common areas and the mezzanine the studio.
A material house on Lake Zurich
The villa opens up to the outside environment through terraces and large windows framing the garden and landscape.

A rough yet elegant aura characterises the building, thanks to a vocabulary of simple, natural materials and expressive choices with a vaguely vintage flavour. The exterior surfaces are finished in bush-hammered concrete in light grey tones, against which the oak window frames stand out. Inside, the light-coloured surfaces of grit floors and plastered walls dialogue with the exposed wood cladding and furnishings, which give the spaces a homely and cosy atmosphere.
The garden, developed on terraces, continues the domestic life outside and accompanies visitors along a circular path connecting four zones - the forest garden, the grove, the perennial garden and the herb garden - to experience the different atmospheres of the natural landscape, constantly changing over the course of the seasons and times of day.
