Kanye West’s villa in Malibu is designed by Tadao Ando

Kanye West’s new residence in Malibu was designed by Tadao Ando. The Californian beach villa purchased by the famous rapper and record producer has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, for a total of 370 square metres overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The architecture, raised off the ground, is made of concrete surfaces (a material widely explored by the architect), resulting in a vaguely brutalist overall appearance. 

Built in seven years, the mansion includes 12 pylons that reach 20 metres deep to prevent it from sinking.  West paid $57.3 million for his new home – a number that remains below the $75 million proposed in 2020, when the structure was put up for sale.
