Nestled in the countryside of Jevíčko, Czech Republic, is a 17th century brick granary with a characteristic pitched roof. Seen from afar, the structure looks decadent, but as you get closer you begin to notice the details of the renovation carried out by the studio ORA: new and larger openings, marked by metal lintels or a concrete frame, which connects the living room with the garden. Otherwise the outer shell has been preserved in its natural state, because even a restoration would have undermined its romantic character. Entering the building you immediately notice the contrast with the outside: the interiors have been completely reorganized and are now very spacious, bright, refined and contemporary. The double-height living area is the fulcrum around which the new life of the structure revolves, which has been converted into a reception area with five bedrooms. The wood of the ceiling, the doors and the new partitions help to give shape to a modern but welcoming space, reinterpreting rural well-being and comfort.
