The renovation project carried out by the Portuguese architectural firm DC.AD involved the transformation of a rural house in state of abandonment located in an unspoilt and wild area of the Alentejo region, into a holiday home, through the reorganization of the interior spaces of the house and the construction of a new swimming pool. The aim was to preserve and enhance the characteristics of the existing building in its natural context and to harmoniously integrate it into the new use proposed.

The shared areas, a dining room veranda, a kitchen and a bathroom are located on the east-west oriented axis of the villa, while the four bedrooms, all with en suite bathrooms, are arranged on the north-south axis. A studio and a yoga room are located around the central nucleus.
The outdoor areas are paved in continuity with the interior and become a real extension of the space of the house, acting as platforms for access to the rooms.
The new layout, made up of a central heart of common spaces, which can be crossed east-west, a system of rooms around it and an external circulation that serves the various rooms, ensures different levels of privacy in the different spaces of the house and satisfies its new intended use.
The interiors of the house are strictly white an designed in detail; the blind bathrooms inside the rooms are connected with them through glass surfaces to enjoy natural light, while access is made by a system of furniture that include two sliding panels, the headboard and two shelves.
New porthole windows are opened along the external perimeter of the house, framing the surrounding landscape.
A new swimming pool is located on a natural terrace at a lower level of the villa and is aligned with the common spaces.
Far from the house, surrounded by luxurious green vegetation, the dark and solid mass of water ensures a full immersion in nature.
